As the Executive Director of Southern Delaware Tourism for the past 17 years, Scott Thomas has been a steadfast advocate for Sussex County. With a decade of prior experience in marketing communications, he brings a unique blend of expertise and enthusiasm to shaping the region’s image as a premier cultural destination.
Sussex County stands out as a vibrant center for creativity and tourism, with 31% of the assets in the CREATE Plan (778 total assets) located there. Scott’s dedication to promoting these assets helps nurture an environment where Delaware’s creative economy thrives. His leadership and strategic insight highlight the area’s cultural offerings, driving economic growth and enhancing community engagement.
Scott’s dedication extends beyond tourism. He actively contributes to the community through board positions with the Sussex Economic Development Action Committee, Delaware Botanic Gardens, Fort Miles Museum, and the Nanticoke Heritage Byway. In February 2024, his commitment to the arts was further recognized with a seat on the Delaware Arts Alliance Board of Directors.
